R1 - #3 WHO'S COUNTING (6-1) Usually I simply look for Keri Brion in steeplechase races, but I keep going back to the #3 here. Sure, he's facing a level he's never been to, but holy cow, he just seems to have a lot of heart.
R2 - #1 RAGTIME BLUES (3-1) Can't ignore the move back to 6f along with weight allowance. I love that he doesn't need the lead to win, but if he gets it he has the stamina to hold it.
R3 - #8 BOURBON & HONEY (4-1) I see a speed duel between #6 & #7, and neither jock has a clue how to ride a turf sprint. Saez will sit behind them and give a little lesson at the wire. One of those occasions when the jockey makes all the difference.
R4 - #2 FLOP SHOT (4-1) I got skewered by the Franco/Brown combo in the nightcap yesterday and my mama told me to never make the same mistake twice. The three works here at Saratoga since the "flop" off the bench tells me Chad has him ready.
R5 - #6 W.W. FITZY (2-1) Wire to wire - she'll make every post a winning one...
R6 - #5 BALSA (8-1) Ok, so the #6 Inflation Nation might just be a special animal and will likely destroy this field. However, they are 2 year olds and anything can happen so I'll take a bit of a price here. You could make a case that Cox used that debut for Balsa as a glorified workout as the colt seems to be bred for the grass. I'll be surprised if he isn't in the mix.
R7 - #5 MAYBE LATER (6-1) She's the controlling speed, but is 1 for 18 lifetime. Truthfully, I can't find a reason to back anything in this race - this is just the dog with the least fleas.
R8 - #3 INVALUABLE (7-2) Diodoro has the odds-on favorite on the rail and she looks head and shoulders above this field. But, why is ownership letting her go for $32k? Something's fishy. I'll back the "other" Diodoro entry - yeah, the one HE owns.
R9 - #4 TICKER TAPE HOME (6-1) Going route to sprint with a bullet work a week ago spells "ready to fire". I'll probably get beat by the Franco/Brown horse (#7), but shit happens.
R10 - #3 PACHUCA (8-1) Fausto may have his next Letruska? I made a nice score on this filly when she broke her maiden, so I'm biased here. She will give me a thrill in the final furlong if nothing else.
R11 - #8 POWER AGENDA (9-2) He's managed to burn a lot of moolah in his short career, but I'm banking on his early speed, the switch to a new barn, drop in class, and Arriaga's "special sauce".
Good Luck!
